How to Plant Shrubs & Trees
DIG the planting
hole two to three times as wide as the container and the exact depth of
the root ball.
Mix your soil with NURSERYMAN’S
BUMPER CROP or PLANTER MIX and PRE-PLANT FERTILIZER.
We recommend ˝ Planting Mix or Bumper Crop and ˝ soil, plus 2-3
tablespoons of Pre-Plant fertilizer mixed well with the soil.
RULE
OF THUMB: 2 CU. Feet of
BUMPER CROP or PLANTER MIX will plant:

SET
the plant into the hole at the same level it is in the original container.
Do not pile dirt up on the stem, as it will kill most plants (cover exposed
roots of course).
FILL
the prepared soil mix around the plant and tamp firmly along the sides to
insure against air pockets. Air
pockets can severely retard or kill your plant.
Make a
nice sized water basin around each plant so you are sure the water will
penetrate through the root ball and not simply wash away.
You may take down the basins later after you are sure the plant is
okay. We recommend adding MASTER
NURSERY VITAMIN B-1 into your water solution with the first watering.

Mix in basin:
˝ Bumper Crop or Planter Mix
˝ Soil
2-3 T. Pre-Plant Fertilizer
Follow the instructions on our “General Plant Care”
information sheet.
