Planting Roses and Fruit Trees in Fibre Pots

Step 1.  DIG a hole 2 feet wide and 18 inches deep.

Step 2.  MIX together 1/3 BumperCropÔ or Nurseryman’s Planter’s MixÔ to 2/3 soil and add ¼ cup Nurseryman’s Pre-Plant FertilizerÔ and ¼ cup Nurseryman’s Mineral Soil ConditionerÔ.

Step 3.  (OPTIONAL) MAKE 3-4 holes in sides and tear off lip of fibre pot to hasten decomposition of pot.

Step 4.  PLACE some mix in hole, set plant with fibre pot into the hole, back-fill with mix, and tamp into place.

Step 5.  (Jan - Feb only) MOUND pure Nurseryman’s Planter’s MixÔ (Not bumpercrop) around the canes – this is to keep the canes moist so they won’t dry out before the plant takes hold and puts out growth.  Leave Planter’s Mix around the rose until you see 2”-3” of new growth, then spread evenly around the basin.

Step 6.  BUILD a water basin 30”-36” round and water thoroughly, taking care to water both inside and outside the fibre pot area.

Care Instructions:

When the rose buds are 3 inches long, FEED your new rose with 1/3 cup NURSERYMAN'S ROSE AND FLOWER FOODÔ.  REPEAT in 4-6 weeks.  Feed Nurseryman’s Citrus & Fruit Tree FoodÔ  to fruit trees, March - November.

SPRAY in May with Pest Fighter OilÔ to control mildew and aphids before they harm your rose or fruit tree.

MULCH with Shredded Bark or heavy mulch in July to protect the root system from summer scald.

PRUNE your rose or fruit tree lightly during the growing season and heavily in January or February.  SPRAY with MASTERCOPÔ and SPRAYGRIPÔ during this time to control diseases and insects and to keep them at a minimum during the rest of the year.

ON ROSES, after the first two feedings, FEED with 1 cup NURSERYMAN'S ROSE AND FLOWER FOODÔ every month until November.  On FRUIT TREES, feed every two months with NURSERYMAN'S CITRUS AND FRUIT TREE FOODÔ .
