ENSURE RESULTS: PREPARE YOUR SOIL

Good producing, tasty vegetables come only from good soil. Since most of our soil is poor, you would be wise to invest a little money and effort into preparing your soil before planting.

SHERIDAN RECOMMENDS: For soil preparation, use two to four 2 cu. ft. bags of BUMPER CROPÔ (Planting Mix with 15% chicken manure, bat guano, kelp meal & worm castings) and 5 lbs. BUMPER CROP BOOSTERÔ or NURSERYMAN’S PRE-PLANT FERTILIZERÔ, and one 10 lb. bag of NURSERYMAN’S MINERAL SOIL CONDITIONERÔ per 100 SQ foot area. (10’x10’) to lower pH.

CULTIVATE into the top 6-12” of soil. Grade as desired and plant as soon as you wish. NO NEED TO WAIT.

FORMULA to determine amount of BUMPERCROPÔ mulch needed:

2 cu. ft. covers 42 SQ foot. 1/2” deep

2 cu. ft. covers 21 SQ foot. 1” deep

Approximate square foot area

bags BUMPER CROPÔ (all organic)

lbs. BUMPER CROP BOOSTERÔ (5-5-5, all natural) or PRE-PLANT  FERTILIZER (2-10-6)

lbs. MINERAL SOIL CONDITIONERÔ (10# per 100 SQ foot.) (iron, sulfur, minerals)

CARE AFTER PLANTING

WATERING: Deep and consistent watering is the general rule on all vegetables. Seeds should be lightly watered until sprouted, then deep watered as necessary. Try to hold back as long as you can without allowing the plant to go into stress (wilt). You will get more fruit from your efforts this way. Vegetables do poorly when inconsistently watered.

MORE VEGETABLES PER PLANT? Try feeding on a monthly basis. It does wonders.

SHERIDAN RECOMMENDS: Feed monthly with organic NURSERYMAN’S VEGETABLE FOODÔ (6-6-6) Ô (5-5-5).

We suggest you invest in a Sunset Vegetable Book or others to find out more about your crop.

INSECTS AND DISEASES: For worms and caterpillars, use SAFER’S BACILLUS DUSTÔ. Use NATURE’S PEST FIGHTERÔ for most other pests. MASTER NURSERY’S SLUG AND BUG BAIT MEALÔ is also good as a bait under your plants. Bring your leaves and other samples into the nursery for identification and recommendations by one of our MASTER NURSERY PROFESSIONALS.
