Partially deciduous for a short period.
Blooms November to March. Foliage
is interesting with two heart shaped lobes that close up in evening.

Orchid Tree) Partially
to wholly deciduous. Light
green, broadly lobed leaves generally drop midwinter.
Beautiful show of light pink to orchid-purple, broad-petaled
flowers, Jan-Mar.
Produces a crop of beans after blooming.
Inclined to grow as shrub with multiple stems.
CASSIA LEPTOPHYLLA
(Gold Medallion Tree)
Semi-evergreen, fast-growing tree with an open-headed,
low-spreading pendulous form. The
compound leaves have up to 12 pairs of narrow leaflets.
Long spikes of deep yellow flowers to 3”wide appear July-August
with scattered blooms later.

small tree with huge golden-rod colored clusters of single flowers 3”
wide in fall through winter. Beautiful
bean clusters of seed pods follow.

medium green 4” long with scarlet fall color.
Flowers set at center of white bracts which turn pink along edge.
Fruit in September-October looks like a raspberry.

clusters, red, rose, rose-orchid, purple, soft pink & white blooms

Moderate,
very compact with upright branching. 20ft by 10 ft wide.
Dark green leaves with rusty bronze on the underside.

Deciduous tree with yellow-green bark, spiny twigs and a
picturesque form. Sparse
foliage: 6-9” leaves with many leaflets that quickly drop in drought
or cold. Numerous yellow
flowers in loose clusters: a long bloom season in spring and then
intermittently throughout the year.
First growth is rapid, then slowing to an eventual 15-30 ft and
as wide.

TABEBUIA CHRYSOTRICHA

fast growing, briefly deciduous tree of rounded spreading form.
Very showy flowers are 3-4” long, golden yellow, often with
maroon stripes in the throat. Blooms
heaviest April-May when the trees lose leaves briefly.
Useful patio, lawn or specimen trees which tolerate many soils
and drought when established. Require
good drainage.
TABEBUIA IPE
(Pink Trumpet Tree) More
erect and usually evergreen tree, larger growing than T. chrysotricha
with dark green, smooth leaves. The
trumpet-shaped flowers are 2-3” long, lavender-pink with a white
throat banded yellow. Blooms in late winter and sometimes again late summer to
fall. Tolerates many soils
and drought once established. Requires
good drainage. Good tree
for patio, lawn and specimen use.
